Scholastic BOGO Book Fair!
Our final book fair this year will be June 1-5. Please share this information with parents. It's our Buy One Get One Free book fair, which is an amazing deal. Hope to see you there! Don't forget to put your name in the drawing for $25 to spend at the book fair, this will double the number of books you can pick out :)
New Series for Transitioning Readers
I'm so excited to share with students some of the new purchases for the media center. With our book fair funds, I've been able to purchase most of the books in the Branches series from Scholastic. These are great books for students who are not quite ready for more traditional chapter books. Features include:
- Easy-to-read text
- Simple plotlines
- Plenty of context clues
- Purposeful illustrations that aid reading comprehension
For more information, check out the Branches website.
Have you checked out the newest titles in TumbleBooks?
I was browsing books by author and I noticed that there are some Mercy Watson books by Kate DiCamillo books on the website. If you haven't been on Tumblebooks lately, check them out. Our premium subscription give us access to many titles that are also appropriate for our older readers; including chapter books, graphic novels, and lots of nonfiction text.
End of Year Dates
It seems crazy that we are already getting ready for the end of the school year. We've planned out the return dates for student books and coordinated our BOGO book fair with these dates in mind. The week of May 11-15, students who have returned all of their books may check out one book for one week. All student books are due the week of May 18-22. This may seem early, but we felt like last year, we didn't allow enough time for students to return their books before school was out. A lot of time during the last week of school was spent calling home to locate those missing books.
Teacher materials are due the week of June 1-5. Please start returning those items that you are no longer using in order to decrease the massive amount of items that must be reshelved and stored at the end of the year. As always, if there are items you need to keep until the last day, please just let us know so we can make a note of it. We really appreciate your help and support as we wrap up the year in the media center.
