Principal's Corner
Thank you all for an excellent first two days back to school, it was very fulfilling seeing our students back in person. On Monday, September 13, students will begin following their complete schedule! ! In guidance with the SPPS mask mandate, masks need to be worn over the mouth and nose at all times in the building except when eating (breakfast & lunch), after eating masks need to be put back on promptly. Student and staff safety is extremely important as we support student academic and social growth, your assistance with reminding your student of social distancing and wearing masks is appreciated.
Please do not hesitate to contact me with questions via email (teresa.vibar@spps.org or 651-744-6702).
Sincerely, Teresa Vibar

Volunteer at Ramsey This Year!
As students and staff return to the building, we will slowly begin the process of bringing volunteers back into the daily routine and you are welcome to join us. Volunteers will be required to wear a mask at all times in the building. If you are interested in being on our contact list for one-time volunteer opportunities or the Classroom Volunteer Program when it returns later in the year (more info on that available here) - please visit our website at https://ramseyvolunteers.weebly.com/volunteer.html and sign up for our mailing list!
We have an immediate need for volunteers on Monday and Tuesday, September 13th and 14th to help with iPad rollout. All students are getting a new device this year and our amazing iPad Manager, Cara Hagen, wants to get them in the hands of students ASAP - but she needs help! If you are able to contribute a few hours, please click here to sign up for a shift. No technology experience required.

Tech Time - Important iPad information
New Student iPad Handout
All students will receive a new iPad, case with keyboard, and charging cord/brick on Monday and Tuesday, September 13-14. Students who have an iPad from last year are encouraged to bring it to school daily, but it will not be required for class participation and assignment completion for students without a working iPad at this time.
Please have your students locate their iPads (working or not), cases, and charging cords/bricks. They should be brought to school, fully charged if possible, on 9/13 and 9/14. They will be turned in when students receive the new iPad. If students forget, they will still receive the new iPad and can bring the old iPad back to school the next week.
The new iPads can be used with the Generation 1 Apple Pencil. The school/district is not providing Apple pencils for students. If you choose to purchase one for your student, please be sure to only purchase the Generation 1 or it will not work. I would also encourage you to use it only at home. The school/district does not take responsibility for students who bring personal technology to school; students lose so many regular pencils that we are concerned about students losing these very expensive tools.
Feel free to contact me with questions, preferably by email at cara.hagen@spps.org or text at (612) 568-2358.

Ultimate Frisbee
Ramsey Middle School will start practicing this week! The schedule is as follows:
September 13th Monday 3:15pm-4:30pm @ Ramsey Middle School Fields
September 15th Wednesday 3:15pm-4:30pm @ Ramsey Middle School Fields
The schedule for the remainder of fall 2021 will be set at the end of this week and sent out in the next weekly update.
Description of Ultimate Frisbee: A non-contact, self-officiated disc sport played by two teams of 5 players (at the middle school level). The object of the game is to score goals. A goal is scored when a player catches any legal pass in the end zone that player is attacking. A player may not run while holding the disc. The disc is advanced by passing it to other players. The disc may be passed in any direction. Any time a pass is incomplete, a turnover occurs, resulting in an immediate change of the team in possession of the disc. Players are empowered to self-officiate using a framework governed by the principles of Spirit of the Game.
If your student athlete is interested in joining the Ramsey Ultimate Frisbee team, please connect with Ms. Ekegren to get on the email list. (Alicia.Ekegren@spps.org or 651-744-7397).
