Fall Class Schedules for Middle School Students
Current plans for students to be able to view their class schedule in the student portal for the 2021-2022 school year is set for Monday, August 16th. All students WILL receive a hard copy of their class schedule if they attend Open House on Wednesday, August 18th. *There will be no changes made to student schedules once they are received. In a building of 1,200 students it is impossible to meet individual student requests for individual teachers, classes with individual friends and/or lunches.
*Please note that class balancing and course offerings can fluctuate up to the first day of the school year so some minor changes could be made to student schedules between August 16th and August 31st. ALL students will receive a class schedule confirmation on their first day of the school year during their Homebase class.
Lake's Bell and Lunch Schedule be for the 2021-2022 School Year
*Students WILL have 6 classes each school day with a 30 minute lunch for the upcoming school year.
Please note that lunch schedules are based on your child's specific class (3rd period class for 6th graders, 4th period class for 7th graders and 5th period class for 8th graders) so it is not possible for students/families to request a specific lunch assignment.

Have a Question or Need Assistance?
Incoming 6th Grade Math Placements
Initial 6th grade math placements for all incoming 6th grade students were made at the district level utilizing a common algorithm for ALL District 833 6th grade students this year. Initial math placement letters were sent to all incoming 6th grade families at the end of the school year from District 833's Teaching and Learning Department. Placements were based on the district placement process (which included available data and math placement criteria).
Please know that as students begin their math pathway in middle school this fall, each district middle school will make any adjustments as needed, including gathering additional achievement data. Students who may have changes in their math placement in the fall after additional assessments are given, will receive communication by the end of September and their class schedule will be adjusted by district staff. In fall of 2021, an appeals process through the Department of Teaching and Learning will be available after fall achievement data has been gathered and analyzed. (*All current math placements stand as originally communicated at this time. No appeals process district-wide will take place until after the MAP math assessment in September, 2021.)
We appreciate your patience as we navigate math placements after this unusual past school year.
*All 7th and 8th Grade Math Placements will follow the District 833 math pathway moving on to the next identified course.

Camp 7 and Camp 8 Information
Lake Middle School knows that with the unique and challenging school year we just experienced we will need to provide a building orientation to our incoming 7th and 8th graders this fall. Students who were either VLA learners this past school year or who will be brand new to Lake Middle School for the 2021-2022 school year will be invited to an orientation program to assist in their transition to Lake Middle School.

*The first day of school for all other 7th and 8th grade students is Wednesday, September 1st.
This programming is prepared for those students who are unfamiliar with our building (BRAND NEW to Lake and/or VLA students for the entire 20-21 school year) and would prefer to have additional time and attention in order to successfully transition on-site before the first day of school for the rest of the 7th and 8th graders on Wednesday, September 1st.
