Why reconstruction is bad

Texas' feelings on Reconstruction

Reconstruction has put many of the plantations, which are vital to the South's economy, out of business because they have no work force. We think that the North has unfairly used their power over us and have become carpet baggers. It is not fair for the North to apply their unwanted rules in the South

Andrew Johnson

the president at the time that was enforcing reconstruction. All though Andrew him self was from the south so he was okay with "Black Codes" which were a set of codes that basically limited the rights of African Americans and former slaves.
