5/6 CLARK
SEMESTER 1 CLASS NEWSLETTER 2018
WHAT'S BEEN HAPPENING THIS SEMESTER?
5/6 Clark have had a busy and fun filled term. Time is flying and we have so many more wonderful and exciting events coming up in Semester 2. I would like to congratulate 5/6 Clark on their dedication to their learning and on improving their skills as creative and critical thinkers. I look forward to all that the second half of the year has to offer.
SRC & CLASS CAPTAIN
Congratulations to 5/6 Clark's Semester 1 Class Captain Representative. Rana has been a wonderful role model for our class and Nardeen continues to be a sensible and mature SRC leader.
MATHS
During this term, 5/6 Clark have been working hard to develop their skills in decimal place value, multi-step problem solving and larger number multiplication problems among many others. Daily short sharp number games has meant that students have continued to gain greater mental computation and strengthened their number strategies at a level that suits their individual learning needs. They have developed their ability to explain and describe their mathematical thinking to their peers. Our 'Number Talks' have helped 5/6C to understand the range of strategies that can be used to solve one problem.
READING & WRITING
5/6C have become more confident writers. They've worked hard to become creative and imaginative thinkers that capture the readers attention. They've gained a greater understanding of how to use appropriate language and grammatical features in their writing. 5/6C love writing stories that relate to their life experiences. During guided reading, students are working on Focus on Reading Strategies to improve their comprehension skills. They've become learners that question, make connections, infer, predict and summarise to strengthen their comprehension skills.
SCIENCE FUN
In 5/6C we learn best through hands on activities. In science we've tested what occurs when a liquid and solid is mixed together.
In Term 1 we had so much fun during our annual Easter Hat Parade
SWIMMING CARNIVAL
EXCURSIONS
In Stage 3 we've been so lucky to experience two engaging and exciting excursions. We developed our skills in team building and cooperation and developed a deeper understanding of rainforests and the affects bush fires have on our environment.
Let's get ready for Semester 2
Have a wonderful and well-rested holiday. I look forward to our last semester as 5/6C and all the wonderful things we will experience together. Thank you again for a wonderful term and for always being enthusiastic and eager learners.
