Bellerose Bulletin
November 2022
A Message from our Admin
How great was it to have in-person parent teacher interviews in October? We heard the comment from so many people that it was the first time they had ever been in the school, and from a few people that it was the first time that they had been in the school since the late eighties! As much as we enjoy the opportunity to connect with so many families during these two night blitzes, we invite an open line of communication between home and school all year long. If you have questions, concerns, or praise - please reach out. We are committed to being partners in education throughout the year, not just twice per year during interviews.
It's hard to believe, but we're at the mid-way point of semester one. With the return to school in the new year not until January 9th, and departmental exams beginning on January 12th, we really just have November and December to get through the remaining learning. This is the time of year when students really start feeling the crunch. Some feedback that we heard from a few families during interviews was that they didn't know about our Student Academic Support blocks. Every Tuesday and Thursday from 10:45 to 11:05, all of our teachers are in their classrooms ready to provide learning support to any of their students that may need a little extra help, with no booking or appointment necessary. For any student who is currently struggling with the workload or content, this should be the very first support they should seek. An extra forty minutes of instruction or one-to-one support per week will make a huge difference, and alleviate some of that academic stress.
Lots of exciting and important events coming up in the month of November, including our Awards and Honours celebrations, our Remembrance Day ceremony, and our Bulldogs football team going to Provincials in Grande Prairie! Don't forget we also have our Fall Break, with no school for students from November 10th through the 14th. Hopefully the beautiful fall weather will hold on just a little longer so it can be enjoyed outside.
Yours in partnership,
Peter Fenton - Principal
Michael Thompson - Assistant Principal
Jennifer Bruinsma - Assistant Principal
