McAllister Minutes
Week of: January 29 - February 2
McAllister Minutes
Sickness swept the building this past week, your willingness to assist where your help was needed is greatly appreciated! My hope is that the weekend was welcomed and sickness has subsided in some sense. This past Friday night, we were able to induct quite a few 4th & 5th grade students into the Junior Beta Club - this is quite the accomplishment for these students and was a well attended event highlighting each and everyone of these scholars!
The week ahead of us is bound to be incredible as we welcome February and many of the events that February holds. Please continue to keep the main thing the main thing as we focus on engaging instruction and truly making connections with each and every student.
I have a challenge for you this week that includes 5 activities should you choose to accept it:
- Tweet a picture of a lesson/activity in which students are highly engaged!
- Tweet a picture of yourself & a colleague!
- Tweet a picture of you & your class!
- Tweet a picture in which you are actively engaged at recess with your students!
- Tweet a picture of students working together to accomplish a task!
Ready, set, go! Remember to use #MESrocks! These can be done all in one day or over the course of a few days - the choice is yours, have fun!
Prior to the end of this week please make sure you have completed the following:
- Turned in Young Georgia Author's Writing to Dr. Ward.
With an intentional focus of consistency on being curious & crazy for kids you will ALWAYS find a culture that is student focused!
Have a great week!
Below I have listed a few reminders so that they can be kept at the forefront as you plan and execute your daily tasks!
- Need a Substitute? Be sure that you have entered your absence in AESOP as well as notified your grade level admin and Ms. Lane! Personal Leave will not be approved without 3 days notice - Substitutes are a hot commodity and should be secured in advance if you are utilizing personal leave. *Emergency Sub Plans should always be prepared in the case you have an emergency!
- Money? Please ensure that all money is accounted for daily and that it never stays in your room overnight. MyPaymentsPlus has been a big help with this, but we still need to be cognizant of this as we collect money.
- Lunch - Please be on time, the flow and cleaning procedures are not able to flow efficiently and effectively when students are not picked up on time. Thank you in advance!
- Communication w/Parents -If a student is consistently not meeting the expectation whether it be academically or behaviorally please be certain you are contacting those parents by phone and that you are able to talk to an actual person and not an answering machine. We are a team and will work together to support the needs of our students, if you have questions or need assistance please let me know! NO Surprises!
