MR. MELA'S MESSAGE

Dear Families,

At Curtis, we value opportunities for physical activity and social interactions, which take place during recess for our students. Research has shown that learning and emotional health increases and improves when students are physically active.

This week we received some exciting news about the Curtis Outdoor Health and Wellness Space. The Community Preservation Committee unanimously approved the application to fully fund the project and the next step is to get Town Meeting approval in May. That is incredible news and we appreciate the support of the CPC.

We also say thank you to the CPO for helping to fund the purchase of a second gaga pit, which just arrived and we will begin to assemble it as soon as possible.

Have a great weekend,

Jeff

LOST & FOUND

Please remind your child(ren) to check the Lost & Found in the cafeteria for missing items. There are a lot of clothes and other items that need to go back home before the items are donated on January 30th. Please remember to label all items, including clothing, water bottles, and lunch bags.

Hello, Curtis parents! Your children are creating memories this school year. In order to create the yearbooks in time, they need to be ordered soon. The yearbook is created and designed with student input. With pictures taken all throughout the school, they are creating a memorable book for you and your children to look back on their year.

When ordering, please be sure to use your child's formal name. Jostens uses a computer database to produce the emails that are sent to you. If you order using your child's nickname, your child's name will not be removed from the list and you will continue to receive emails. After placing your order, please be sure to save your email receipt, if needed for future reference. Please email our yearbook coordinator, Liz Kerrigan, if you have any questions.

Let's remember this year together! All yearbook orders are placed online. The price is $50. Please click here to order your yearbook today!

PROJECT 351 LAUNCH DAY FOR MADDIE D’AMELIA

This past Saturday, ECMS 8th grade student Maddie D’Amelia participated in Project 351’s 13th annual Launch and Service Day in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. & Coretta Scott King. Maddie united in Boston with more than 425 Ambassadors and Alumni mentors from across the state. Launch Day kicks-off 12 months of leadership development through unifying service. Maddie was recently selected as Sudbury’s 2023 Project 351 Ambassador for her inspiring ethic of service and values of kindness, compassion, humility, and gratitude. Project 351 is a non-profit organization that empowers a youth-led movement for change powered by an eighth- grade student representing every city and town in Massachusetts.

COLLECTION DRIVE FOR SUDBURY CARE PANTRY

Curtis is hosting a supplies collection drive for our neighbors in need. The drive has been organized by the Curtis Angels and will benefit the Sudbury CARE Pantry, which helps individuals and families in need of personal care, laundry and household cleaning supplies. The drive will run through Friday, February 3rd.

We are asking for donations of adult toothbrushes, baby shampoo, body wash, baby diaper wipes, face cleanser, face moisturizer, Vaseline, air freshener spray, textured shampoo, textured conditioner and disposable masks.

A collection box will be located in the front lobby at Curtis. Please contact Curtis Angels Advisor Ivar Henningson if you have questions about the collection drive. On behalf of those who will benefit from your donation, thank you in advance for your support.

A MESSAGE FROM THE ECMS HEALTH OFFICE

***SEVENTH GRADE SCREENING INFORMATION***

Dear Parent/Guardian:

Vision and hearing screenings are conducted for all seventh grade students per Massachusetts law. They are designed to identify students who may need further evaluations.

If your child is already being followed by a provider for vision and/or hearing conditions you may opt-out of this screening by filling out this form. If you are planning to opt out your student please do so by January 3, 2023, otherwise your child will be automatically screened.
