8th Grade College and Career Academy
We are excited to announce an innovative opportunity for your seventh grader! The Coweta County 8th Grade Charter College & Career Academy (Eighth Grade Academy) will open enrollment for the 2020 - 2021 school year for 120 middle school students from Coweta County. This program is located at the Central Educational Center (CEC) and operated by the Coweta County School System.
Eighth Grade Academy offers all the academic rigor of a regular 8th grade middle school curriculum as well as daily 75-minute career elective (connection) classes. This extended career elective time gives your student an opportunity to explore many exciting programs including the following:

Frequently Asked Questions about 8th Grade Academy
1. What is the daily schedule at 8th Grade Academy?
7:30 am-8:00 am: Arrival at CEC
8:00 am- 8:50 am: 1st Block - Academic
8:50 am- 9:40 am: 2nd Block - Academic
9:40 am- 11:05 am: 3rd Block - Career Elective (Connection)
11:05 am- 12:45 am: 4th Block - Academic and Lunch
12:45 pm -1:50 pm: 5th Block - Academic
1:55 pm- 3:10 pm: 6th Block – Career Elective/Study Skills/High School Credit Course
3:10 p.m. Pick up / return to base (home) middle school for clubs and/or sports if desire
2. Will transportation be provided to and from school? No, parents must provide transportation to and from 8th Grade Academy.
3. How many career electives (connections) classes can my student explore? Students may explore up six career electives during the year.

A parent or guardian must attend an open house; preferably, the one designated for your base school.
Each tour begins at 4:15 pm; Those who arrive after 4:15 pm must reschedule for a later open house.
Please note: A lottery drawing on March 9, 2020 will determine applicants who can enroll if applications exceed available space.
