What is Wind Energy?
- Wind turbines convert the kinetic energy in the wind into mechanical power.
- Wind Energy is renewable
Environmental Impact
- No toxic pollution
- No type of global warming emissions
- Birds do get killed by wind turbines when they try and fly through them
The History of Wind Energy
- Over 5,000 years ago ancient Egyptians used wind power to sail on the Nile River.
- In 1850 the first Wind Energy company was built by Danial Halladay and John Burnham.
- In 1940 the largest windmill was made on Vermont Hilltop known as “Grandpas Knob”.
Major uses of Wind Energy
- Wind powered water pumps
- Wind powered electricity
- Wind powered windmills
- Wind also powered ventilation fans
Reasons to use Wind Energy
- Wind Energy has high efficiency
- Low environmental impact
- Wind turbines don't take to much room
- No CO2 emissions
- There will be the same amount supply of Wind Energy in the future as there is now
