From the Superintendent:
Lakeville Area Families,
I am writing to you today to let you know we are revising the tentative plan to transition secondary students into the Hybrid Learning Model. Based upon the results of the family-student-staff survey as well as other considerations, we are not moving to a Hybrid Learning Model. Instead, we are seeking to bring back students in grades 6-12 to an all In-Person Learning Model. Per state guidelines, a Distance Learning option would still be available to all students who wish to continue learning remotely.
Because we are postponing the tentative plan that was previously communicated, middle and high school students will have school next Thursday, Feb. 18 and Friday, Feb. 19 as they remain in full-time Distance Learning for now. This decision is based upon data indicating case rates continue to steadily decline and that the Hybrid Learning Model does not work for many students, parents, and staff. We recognize the Hybrid Learning Model falls short of the goal we have had all year long: to bring back our students to an In-Person Learning Model.
We are proposing a new transition plan for grades 6-12 to our Regional Support Team. Plan details will be broadcasted during the Board of Education meeting on Tuesday, February 16 at 4:30 p.m. Staff and families are encouraged to tune-in to this meeting on LETV or local Charter cable channel 188. For now, I ask for your patience a little longer as we present a new plan for state-approval. I will continue to communicate new details as they become available.
Thank you for your continued partnership throughout this challenging school year.
Michael Baumann
Superintendent
