The Fourth grade teachers along with the entire staff of Sullivan elementary are here to support and help our children get through these trying moments. We will work together, hand in hand in order to provide our students with love and normalcy to ensure that everything is going to be fine. Math

This week we will be beginning a graphing project on Monday that will be counted as a major grade. The students will survey their classmates, collect data, create a table, and two types of graphs. The students will also be asked to include 2-3 questions about their graphs.

In addition to graphing we will also be focusing on place value this week. Our skills will be understanding the relationship of numbers, comparing and ordering numbers, and rounding numbers. For more information regarding the math skills that will be covered, please log into Envision and see topic 1, lessons 1-4.

Students can log in to access their math textbook online through this link https://www.fortbendisd.com/Page/14847, and use their FBISD credentials.

Science

Our focus in science will be lab safety and understanding how to make good choices during lab experiments. In addition to understanding lab safety this week, we will be applying the scientific method to hands on science experiments. The students will be expected to collect data, record the data, and analyze the information. Science tools will also be covered this week. Be ready for our science safety and tools test on Thursday!

English Language Arts

In reading, we will be introducing ways to monitor our comprehension. Students will begin responding to reading using thinking stems in order to deepen their understanding of the text.

In writing, students will continue gathering ideas and making lists of topics that they will revisit throughout the school year. We will also be reviewing parts of speech and complete sentences.

Social Studies

In social studies, the students will be introduced to the study of Texas history. We will set the framework for future learning by reviewing map skills that will be used throughout the year.

A note from the office...

Rainy Day Dismissal Procedures

Students who walk or ride bikes home with the Red OR Silver Walkers must have a Rainy Day dismissal plan. This plan will allow for the dismissal of your child(ren) to be changed in the event of rainy weather. Parents may chose for the child to still walk or ride their bike as long as there is no thunder/lighting. Parents may also, walk up to get their children with an umbrella, or have them go home as a car rider. All other students going home on buses, in cars, or daycare vans will NOT have a change in dismissal.

It is imperative that if your child is a walker or biker, that their homeroom teacher is made aware of their plan. Our top priority at ASE is to keep our children safe.
