Ukrainian Liaison / Coordinator News

Слава Ісусу Христу!

Glory Be to Jesus Christ!

September has come and gone quickly this year bringing with it some much appreciated warm weather as well as a great start to the school year!

On Wednesday, September 23, our Ukrainian Bilingual students, teachers, parents, and special guests participated in a beautiful celebration of our faith. The Ukrainian Bilingual Program of Edmonton and Sherwood Park Catholic Schools celebrated our annual Ukrainian Bilingual Program Opening Liturgy for our students, lead by Bishop David Motiuk at St. Basil’s church in Edmonton.

During this year’s Divine Liturgy, we prayed for our brothers and sisters in Ukraine who have been entangled in a violent struggle for their dignity and independence over the past two years and specifically this year we focus on the families and orphaned children who face struggles as the result. All together, the Ukrainian Bilingual students from Sherwood Park and Edmonton donated over $ 3000 to one organization - The Bridge of Hope . The money will be sent to families of Ukrainian soldiers killed or wounded in action. A special thank you to all our Ukrainian Bilingual families for donating $653 to The Bridge of Hope!

Parent Sign in / End of Day Pickup

We continue to ask all parents to sign in and grab a visitor badge at the office if you are coming into the school.

In consultation with the local RCMP, we are being directed to call the RCMP if we notice unfamiliar people on the playground while our students are outside playing. Please be aware that our staff/lunch supervisors do not know of all of our parents/grandparents/guardians. If you are coming during recess to pick up your child, we ask that you come in to the school office, and we will page your child to come and meet you at the office.

If you need to pick up your child for an appointment, it is best to come before/after recess. Our recess times are 10:01 - 10:16, 11:36 - 11:57, 1:38 - 1:53. As mentioned previously, please send a note to your child's teacher, as well as the school office and we will do our best to have your child waiting for you.

Please understand that we receive a high volume of requests from parents regarding changes to pick up information, and requesting to pick students up early. We do try our best to pass information along to students, but it is very difficult to manage the volume of these requests during peak hours of the school day. Make a plan with your child in the morning discussing how they are to go home at the end of the day. Write a note in your child's agenda if something is different that day for pick up.

PD Day - October 7th

There is no school for students on Friday October 7th, as it is a PD day for staff.

Wednesday October 5th, is early dismissal, and students will be dismissed at 2:13.

Coupon Books

BUCPS has indicated that there are still coupon books outstanding. If you do not wish to purchase the coupon book, please return the book to the school. If you wish to keep the book, please send payment of $20.00 to the school by Monday October 3rd.

Don't walk in the halls!!

School payments

If you had sent in cheques during the month of September for recorders, milk orders, and/or school fees, we will deposit these cheques the first week of October. September was a very busy month, and we were not able to deposit them earlier.

Our apologies to our families, we will do our best to get those to the bank next week. Thank-you for your understanding.

School Fees / Fee Waivers

School fees are now available to pay online using your Powerschool Parent Portal. Invoices will be sent home with your child on Monday. If you need help logging in, please call or email the school office and we will help create an account for you.
