PSJA CCTA BATTLE OF THE BOOKS TEAM
What can I say! I am so proud of the four young ladies who represented our school at this year's HS Battle of the Books Competition. Each qualified for the team by reading and testing on five young adult novels and one non-fiction book. Their individual efforts paid off. For the first time, PSJA CCTA had a complete team of four players. Thank you, Team Members! You made PSJA CCTA history! Well done! :) Congratulations to PSJA Memorial ECHS! They are the reigning champs for a third year in a row! Assigned Battle of the Books are pictured below.

DISTRICT HOLIDAY GREETING CARD ENTRY BY DENISSE
A CCTA student participanted in the District Holiday Greeting Card Contest. As you can see from her original work, she is a talented artist . Take a close look at the detail. What is just as amazing is that she heard about the contest the day before the deadline and worked on her drawing for eight hours to ensure its timely submission. Kudos!
PSJA CCTA and LIBRARY CHRISTMAS SERVICE PROJECTS
Special thanks to students who participated in our school and library Christmas service projects. At the San Juan Nursing Home, students Christmas caroled and presented
residents with gifts of hats and socks. As you can see from the picture, Santa Claus was in the HOUSE. Also, for two days, students volunteered at our local Food Bank by separating, restocking, and preparing elementary school meal packages. Because of our efforts, thousands of meals were made available to families and individuals in the Rio Grande Valley.
RAINING, OR BETTER YET, POURING DOWN BOOKS AT PSJA
On December 12, 2015, PSJA ISD and AFT partnered to distribute 50,000 books to students and district staff members. It was wonderful to see the crowds patiently waiting in line for their turn to choose their books. Some waited for 3 hours. When I asked a book lover if it was worth the wait, they say, "Most definitely. Yes!" 100 percent of PSJA CCTA staff members participated in the program to make the distribution possible. THANK YOU, PSJA CCTA STAFF!
