Brooker Creek Elementary
Hello Brooker Creek Families,
This has been a challenging week for our community, we really appreciate your patience and understanding as we responded to the tragedy that happened Wednesday afternoon. The North Pinellas YMCA has organized a vigil tomorrow night to honor Deputy Michael Magli. Our school parking lot will be open for parking. Details regarding the Vigil are below.
I wanted to remind you that COVID communication will be changing next week in all Pinellas County Schools. The district maintains a dashboard on our website that lists all positive cases in our schools at www.pcsb.org/covid19cases. That dashboard is updated each workday and is searchable by location and date.
Beginning February 21, we will do the following:
- Notify by phone and email any student or staff member who is identified as a direct contact and must quarantine.
- Update the district’s COVID Public Dashboard every weekday at noon with cases confirmed the previous day.
- Add a link to the district’s COVID Dashboard (www.pcsb.org/covid19cases) to the homepage of every school’s website.
As always, if you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact me. I hope you have a wonderful weekend.
Stay well,
Jenn Mekler, Principal
Our Fundraiser is Off to a Great Start!
Today, our Apex lesson was all about habit #2 in becoming a MIGHTY leader. Apex taught us about integrity. In order for us to be mighty leaders, we must show integrity to our friends, our family, the things we have, and so much more. The best leaders always practice integrity!
*Important note: Pledges must be entered online to count towards our class total, so please be sure to log them in at www.myapexevent.com.
Here is tonight’s challenge:
The class with the most participation (meaning a pledge of any amount) will get to watch the apex team get pied in the face!
Reporting an Absence
The exception to this rule is if your child is quarantined due to COVID. Anytime a student is quarantined, they are coded in our system and if well enough, should be engaging in school from home. If you have any questions please contact us at school during regular business hours.

Cafe Updates
We are continuing to ask our BCE families to preorder meals when possible. When parents spend a few minutes pre-ordering their child’s lunch, it allows our cafe team to plan ahead. These forms allow us to break the meals out by the teacher and have them ready when the students come into the lunchroom and reduce the amount of time they have to spend in line.
