NWEA Accomodations
District information from Dr. Clevenger:
There still seems to be confusion about NWEA and accommodations. Bottom line… if a student has an IEP or ILP and it states they get particular accommodations on state (i.e.: ILEARN, IREAD3) and/or district (i.e.: NWEA) tests, then the CCC has determined those accommodations. IEPs and ILPs must be followed. This doesn’t mean every SpEd student gets accommodations; it’s a CCC decision.
Please talk with Betsy, Jennifer Banning or myself if you are unsure what this means.
Dream Box Goal: 60 Minutes a Month for EVERY student
Dream Box is a district-wide initiative and expectation. Our goal continues to be 60 minutes per month for EVERY child. This data is being monitored at the district level as well as at Edgelea. Please communicate to me if you are having problems with students making the 60 minute Dream Box goal each month. Kelly will start adding the data to our hallways weekly.
It is important that teachers monitor student progress for standards that are being mastered, too. Students can be on Dream Box for 120 minutes per month but are not being successful and making little growth. We need to be intentional and use the 60 minutes to our advantage. Dream Box states that students should be mastering at least 1-2 standards per month. At our upcoming Data Meetings on September 3 and 5, we will take a quick look at the data and review how to monitor student progress.

The Cutting Edge Parent Newsletter
This information was sent to parents in the August/September Cutting Edge:
I would like to kindly notify you of a school board policy that has previously not been enforced at Edgelea, but we will begin implementing starting Monday, August 26th.
Now that we are beginning the fourth week of school, parents should not be walking students to their classrooms. This is the Lafayette School Corporation policy. It is listed in our board approved elementary student handbooks as it states, "After the first week of school, parents need to drop students off at the arrival door. For the safety of all students, parents must follow the the school's arrival and dismissal policies."
Teacher Observations/Evaluations
I will be meeting with teachers to complete the 2018-2019 evaluations. I will begin with K, 1, 2 teachers. Mandy will be meeting with specials teachers and HA teachers. We are still waiting on the state ILEARN data for 3rd and 4th grade.
It is hard to believe that we our about to wrap up the first month of school. We are starting week #4. Short observations for 2019-2020 will begin the first week of September. Our goal will be to complete long evaluations during October and early November.
