Introducing...
René Kaute to the CAPCO@HSBC Team
When did you start at HSBC and what‘s your role and project?
I first started at HSBC as a contractor back in February 2010 and finally went permanent in 31st December 2013. Currently I am the Programme Manager for the HSS Solvency II Programme. Solvency II reviews the prudential regime for insurance and reinsurance undertakings in the European Union as outlined by EIOPA. From 2016, insurers in the United Kingdom will operate under a new regulatory regime implemented by the PRA. Solvency II is about improving protection for policyholders and creating a safer and more resilient sector
Where are you originally from?
I was born and raised in Kent by my Spanish mum and Austrian dad but unfortunately haven’t picked up the languages. I now live in Essex and have a soft spot for West Ham Football Club
Favourite film(s)?
I love gangster movies and my favorites are Scarface, The Godfather I&II, and Goodfellas
Favourite Author?
I rarely read books but love all the Marvel movies so I guess my favourite author is Stan Lee
If you were stranded on a desert island which famous person would you have with you and why?
The singer Prince if he was still alive obviously. As well as playing his music, I’m sure he would have a few interesting stories to tell
What‘s the most embarrassing song/artist on your music playlist?
I have found Michael Bublé on my iPhone but I promise it was for my wife
What‘s your favourite sport?
Football – Favorite team: West Ham and my son’s local team Aveley Titans
What’s your proudest achievement?
I have received a number of chairman awards over the years and my first one has got to be my proudest as part of a successful programme delivery team
What‘s the coolest place you’ve ever visited?
My family are from Valencia so I may be a little biased but the Science Park in Valencia is impressive
What else should we know about you, what’s your hidden talent, what else would you like to tell us about yourself?
I love Spanish tapas if you ever want to take me out for a meal. I also love F1 racing, having been to the European (Valencia) Grand Prix and Austrian Grand Prix
