MB Lion's Link
Middlebrook Mountain Lions February 3, 2023
Middlebrook students and staff came together on Wednesday for our whole school assembly focusing on manners. They were greeted at the door by our school mascot, Eli the mountain lion. Children enjoyed a staff performance which illustrated the positive behaviors we expect to see in our school. Over the next 11 weeks, students will be recognized for several key characteristics that align with P.A.W.S : saying please and thank you, sharing, smiling, making small talk, looking people in the eye, having a good attitude, apologizing when needed, complimenting others and treating others as you would like to be treated. Our highlighted students will have their photograph taken and displayed in the front foyer. Additionally, they will receive a certificate of recognition signed by Ms. Ponte and Ms. Molloy commemorating the accomplishment. Our first student of distinction is Nala Fillmore, grade 5, who consistently uses manners in the cafeteria. Great job, Nala!

Attention 4th and 5th grade students

Hamden Hall Country Day School is once again offering its popular Summer Engineering & Science Academy to students entering Grades 5, 6, 7, and 8 who enjoy challenging themselves with hands-on activities in the STEM fields.
Experiential learning is at the nucleus of this complimentary, fully funded, week-long enrichment program, which is scheduled this year for July 10-14. Students perform lab work and collaborate in groups to fully explore and make discoveries in the areas of DNA technology, forensics, cryptography, coding, rocketry, chemistry, and more.
Interested families are able to learn more about this opportunity by clicking here https://www.hamdenhall.org/summer/summer-engineering--science-academy
Application deadline is May 15, 2023, and space is limited.
Our first grade Team worked on "Informational text" by exploring Antarctica and the world of Penguins. Students explored the unit by researching a variety of non-fiction text. Students tapped into reading, writing, art, math and science. In culminating the unit, the first grade team celebrated by enjoying a day as a Penguin.
