Weekly Updates from Seaborn Lee, 8.30.19
Principal Geathers
Greetings Parents/Guardians,
It was another great week of teaching and learning at Seaborn Lee! As we close out the third week of school, please make sure that you have registered on Infinite Campus to track your child's academic progress and be sure that you are reaching out to your child's teacher if needed. Our first progress reports will be sent home next week.
Dr. Brown, Assistant Principal
Our ever changing and growing school population at Seaborn Lee allows us the opportunity to maintain a unified focus on providing a safe, nurturing, and well-disciplined environment for all of our students and staff. As a staff, we strive to maintain a laser focus on improving school climate and culture through positive behavior interventions and supports as well as maintaining fair discipline processes and procedures. The Fulton County Student Code of Conduct book is available online in PDF format. Please take a moment to visit the main page of the district’s website, fultonschools.org, review the handbook and complete the Acknowledgement of Receipt Form. Your partnership in supporting and reinforcing positive behaviors will continue to propel us towards excellence!
Ms. Parks, Curriculum Support Teacher
Parents, students in grades K2 have completed their iRead Diagnostic to determine their learning pathway on independent literacy lessons. Being that iRead is a platform having phonological elements, headphones are a necessity. While students have access to a class set of headphones, it’s permissible for students to bring their own headset or earbuds to use.
All available data will assist us in determining response to intervention that is needed to provide remediation or enrichment in the areas of math and reading. Early intervention is beneficial for all students; when we personalize instruction being individual, pairs, and/or small group, student growth and performance is enhanced.
Ms. Parks, CST
Message from Student Support
PBIS Townhall meetings were conducted for all grade levels this week and last week. This is how Seaborn Lee ensures the students are taught the desired behavioral expectations. Often, students behave or react impulsively, because they have not been taught to communicate their emotions in a healthy way. New students to Seaborn Lee were introduced to our PBIS framework, and returning students had their understanding reinforced. We are in anticipation of a great school year. Have a PAWSitively awesome weekend!
Ms. Wilcher, Counselor
Greetings from the Counselor!
We are off to an Awesome 2019-2020 School Year. Parents as you have conversations with your children each day concerning school, please keep these conversation starters in mind. Ask your student, How was your day? Then ask them to give you two things that stood out in their day. Secondly, ask them to explain and teach you one thing that they learned today. If your child states their day had room for improvement and growth, ask them what is one thing they would do differently. Each day is part of their journey that helps to shape their minds, their learning paths and their future. I believe each child has the opportunity to create a bright future and shine in their own way.
Calling All Volunteers!
Thank you to all of our parents who attended the Title I Parent Resource Center Open House and Volunteer Orientation on Tuesday, August 20th. We appreciate your willingness to volunteer at the school and to assist when needed.
Please spread the word that volunteers are needed and encouraged at Seaborn Lee. If you have a neighbor who missed the orientation please have them reach out to the school, specifically,
please contact Ms. DaSilva, Parent Liaison, at dasilvak@fultonschools.org for more information.

Morning and Afternoon Car Rider Line
Additionally, there have been parents leaving their cars unattended in the car rider line to come in the building. If you need to come into the building in the morning please park in the parking lot and not in the car rider zone. Please be mindful that students are entering and exiting cars thus safety is paramount!
Note: If your child is a car rider they will need a car rider number and you will need a car rider decal for your car. Every student and parent must have a decal and number that matches. If you need to pick up a decal or a number please stop by the front office.

Attendance Updates
At Seaborn Lee we are closely monitoring student absences and late arrivals to school (tardy). Please make sure that your child arrives to school by 7:40am daily. We have noticed a large amount of students who are car riders arriving to school late. If your child plans to get breakfast from the cafeteria, please drop them off in plenty of time to maneuver through the cafeteria lines and make it to class before 7:40am. The breakfast line closes at 7:35am. Our teachers are eager to begin instruction at 7:40am.
It is also critical that you send in a note the next day whenever your child is absent. Student attendance is a critical factor in academic success thus we are asking for your support and assistance with sending your child to school every day.
