Graduate Student Newsletter

February 2021

Whether you are a new graduate student, or whether you are only a few months from graduation, we hope you are now hitting your stride in this spring semester.

We continue to highlight services that of which you may not be aware! Read about our graduate student tutoring, join us for our Valentine's Day event, and more below.

Need Tutoring? The Study Has You Covered!

The Study offers free peer and professional tutoring for graduate students. Peer tutoring is offered for introductory graduate courses, and students can have up to two appointments per course each week. Professional tutoring can be used as a supplement to peer tutoring in English as a second language, math, and reading strategies. To request peer or professional tutoring, please go to www.loyola.edu/department/the-study/tutoring. All appointments are taking place online over Zoom for the spring 2021 semester.

Get to Know our Senate Representative, Ben Weckstein!

I currently serve as the Graduate Student Organization representative for the Academic Senate here at Loyola. I am currently in my third semester of the Emerging Media Masters Program and am also an employee of Loyola, working in the Undergraduate Admission office since the fall of 2019.

I volunteered for this position because every student's voice deserves to be heard at Loyola. Loyola would not be the place that it is, without the caliber of students who enroll in our graduate programs. As graduate students, we often face many different challenges when it comes to completing our education. Some of us may work multiple jobs, balance family responsibilities or are new graduates ourselves. Part of my role is to make sure that every graduate student has a chance, should they choose, to be able to share their thoughts or concerns with me with regards to their graduate experience.

Aside from my professional career, I currently live in Baltimore with my wife, Julia, and our dog Finnegan. On the weekends you can often find me running or cycling around the Baltimore Metropolitan area. I look forward to representing and working with you all during this year. Please feel free to reach out to me at bweckstein@loyola.edu.
