Message from Ms. Staley
We're back! It's so great to have our students back on campus for a longer day. Hearing students on the playground, in the hallways and classrooms makes all the challenges worth it. Students are doing a fabulous job too. They are wearing their masks and they make sure to keep social distance. Thank you so much to all our families. Your support and perseverance through this challenging time has made the work worth it. Although school looks different, our teachers are still making sure that students leave Jewett each day knowing that learning is fun. We are continuing to focus on academic skills integrated with hands on, applied learning and a strong focus on communication and social emotional skills.
Although students are on campus twice a week it's important for students to continue to do their online learning on their off days. The hybrid model is set up for in person and online work. If students don't engage in their online work they will be missing out on vital academics as well as important/fun learning.
Daily Symptom Check
A friendly reminder to continue to use the "Home Screening Checklist" each day when determining if your child can come to school. It is important that we work together to minimize and reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19 by following this guidance. If your child has symptoms, do not send them to school. Please contact the front office if you have any questions or if your student will not be able to come to school.
Valentine's Day Fun!
If your student is late to school you will need to bring them to the office to check in. We do not have staff to screen students past 8:10 and all students need to be screened before entering classrooms. We will screen students in the office and get them to class.
Ms. Elmer's chicks hatch!
Thank you for all the support and patience as we adjusted our Driveline routine. It is still a lengthy process, but it is moving smoother and we are no longer creating unsafe traffic on Pine Street. Parents can continue to help by having their driveline number visible and remaining in your car. In the morning, during drop off, you can let students out anywhere along the sidewalk. There is no need to wait until you are at the front of the line to let students out.
Spread the Word
If you have an incoming kindergartner for the 2020-2021 school year and are interested in the Spanish Two-Way Immersion Program, please check our school website for program information as well as information on the application process. Applications are currently being accepted and are due by May 28th.
