Upcoming Events and News!

Dear Parents,

We hope this newsletter finds you doing well! As our virtual learning continues to move forward with all learners, we are very busy preparing all classrooms and spaces in our school for our non- VA Pre-K- 3rd grade students to return to school beginning October 26th and our 4/5th graders to return to school beginning on November 16th.

This week, we would like to focus on the WCPSS RETURN TO SCHOOL website section titled, "Maintaining Healthy Spaces". Click HERE to learn more about face coverings, sanitation, cleaning, social distancing and more! This website is constantly changing to reflect the latest news on how school will look when students return.

As families think about school, we tend to think about students in groups, students singing, students playing on playground equipment, etc. This year will be very different. Specifically, we will work very hard to keep students 6 feet from each other in all classrooms. Students will be wearing masks all day, with 2 five minute mask breaks in addition to lunch. Students will be eating in the classroom. Students will not be playing on play equipment or sharing equipment. Students will be musical, without singing. FVES will be making a school specific video for you to see many of the ways we are implementing each of these items on our campus while still learning and having fun! In the meantime, you will find a WCPSS video below on school cleaning to help you picture what this will look like throughout the county.

We will be hosting a Family Forum Night the week prior to in person instruction beginning for our returning to campus families. Please mark your calendar for Thursday, October 22nd at 7:30 PM. This will be an opportunity to get your questions answered on a Google Meet. If you have questions, please submit all questions related to returning to school at FVES, at the link below. Questions that are submitted prior to October 21st will be answered! All Q/A will be posted to all families in our newsletter on October 23rd.

Please mark your calendar also, on this same night at 8:15 PM. Our Administrative staff (Ms. Johnson and Ms. Bradshaw) will read a bedtime story (or two) related to returning to school for any FVES family that would like to participate.

Return to School Questions

Submit your questions and we will answer them live on October 22!

We must all wear a mask and make sure our mask fits well!

Below are some suggestions to ensure a great fit!

Dream BOX

Please keep in mind that the Dreambox program is designed to automatically adjust to student actions and responses while they are on the program. Students need to complete Dreambox independently in order for the program to work and provide individualized support for each student.

PE Juggling Challenge

This week we will use plastic grocery bags in PE to practice juggling! K-2nd will need 2, 3rd-5th need 3. If you could remind your little ones to set them aside so they are ready for PE that would be so helpful!

If they can't find grocery bags, tissues work too!

Next week they can continue to use the plastic bags or use sock balls as a challenge.

Carpool Number Request Form

ALL carpool riders will need to complete this for 2020-2021. Virtual Academy full year students, please hold off on completing this year. Please only fill this form out ONCE:)
