Principal's Message

Dear Oak Hills Families,

I hope you have had the opportunity to connect with your student's teacher this week. Today, I welcomed our Kindergarten students as they visited Oak Hills. Small groups of 4 or 5 students and their parents met in a socially distant way with their teacher. Teachers led the students in fun songs and other "get to know you" activities. Students smiled with their masks as they took pictures with Lucky the Otter, the big yellow school bus, and a huge "Welcome to Kindergarten" sign. It moved me to tears to see our little ones in person. The building certainly feels empty without our students.

Thank you also for participating in the Curriculum Night Presentations. Below is the recording of the general session with the Specialists, Erika and I.

Curriculum Night Recording

In the Family Toolkit Page on Beaverton School District's website, you can learn how to add closed captioning in any language to the recording. Here is the link to the Family Toolkit page. Teachers will be sending out their recordings shortly.

We will do a drive by pick up for iPads and/or Chromebooks tomorrow, September 11, from 9-11am. Please come by if you have not picked up a device for your student yet.

Additionally, we will have weekly drop off and pick ups of a variety of items starting next Wednesday during the Comprehensive Distance Learning timeframe. On September 16, from 9-11am and 3-5pm, we will be distributing the following items.

  • Kindergarten books
  • Music kits (grades K-2 & ALC)
  • Lost & Found Items from last year (unclaimed items will be donated)
  • Items from student desks from last year (unclaimed items will be donated)
  • iPads/Chromebooks that need to be picked up
  • Supply kits for families in need

Thank you for being such a supportive community. We can't wait to get started!!

Warm regards,

Sheila Baumgardner

Oak Hills PTO

Hello, Oak Hills families!

First day of school is right around the corner and as always, it's still a special day. Here are a few immediate happenings:

Chalk the Walk

We hope to keep as many traditions going as possible this year, and one fun activity was started last year is called Chalk the Walk. On Sunday Night 9/13, decorate your driveway, sidewalk, paths to school, etc. with cheerful messages for our returning students! Last year, we decorated the paths leading to school – this year we’ll do the same for anyone heading to school for a first day photo, but this tradition can be easily replicated at home. Join neighbors on your street or just do your own front porch. A small group is heading to the school Sunday evening around 7:30 - bring chalk and headlamps if you’re interested in joining.

MUSE Band is ready to ramp up some serious music education, and fun. Here's a link for registration: https://museband.com/school/oak-hills-elem/

Stay in Touch with the PTO

Make staying in touch easy by following the PTO! Below is our Link Tree where you can find how to sign up for emails, find us on social media, learn about volunteering, where to buy school spirit apparel, and more.

We are excited to welcome our Otter Families back to school! It looks a little different, but it’s still going to be a great year!
