TECH TUESDAY
It's Back @ BJH Library Media Center
Tech Tuesday Time
Tech Tuesday is coming back to our school this semester. Mark your calendar for the second Tuesday of each month and plan to attend. The sessions will introduce you to some new sites and apps that make the use of technology a little more interesting and hopefully a lot more fun. We will also revisit some sites that you might currently use and see how much more they have to offer.
The district is providing a nice additional bonus for one lucky teacher. All teachers who attend 4 of the 5 sessions will be eligible to win a Chromebook. There will be drawing at the end of the May session, and the name drawn just might be yours.
January 14, 3:30 - 4:30 Session 208614
During our first session we will cover Nearpod. Nearpod describes itself as an all-in-one solution for the use of mobile devices in education. Your lessons become more engaging through interactive multimedia presentations; however, you control the students' devices. With Nearpod you can post information for students to read, embed a video, take a poll, insert pictures, and even give a test. Oh yes, Nearpod will grade it, too!
February 11, 3:30 - 4:40 Session 208616
Learn about Google Docs and some ways you and your students can use them for classroom assignments. We will also take a look at Edmodo.
March 11, 3:30 - 4:30 Session 208618
Animoto is not your normal slide show. Be creative, add text and music. Best of all, it is easy. We will also look at Glogster. For those who have not tried this site, it is like an interactive poster where you can embed links to websites, add text, pictures, and videos. Documents such as a works cited page or graph can even be attached.
April 15, 3:30 - 4:30 Session 208620
We will be meeting the third Tuesday this month because of testing. This session will cover educational games for the classroom. Maybe another fun thing or two if time permits.
May 13, 3:30 - 4:30 Session 208622
This is our last session. We will cover as many apps and websites as we can in one hour. Naturally, there will be enough time at the end for the drawing of the Chromebook.
