EISD Lesson Planning Process
8:30 - 8:45 a.m. - TEAMS Meeting (Synchronous)
8:45-9:00am - Unpacking the TEKS (Asynchronous Learning)
Unpacking is the process of taking a broad standard and analyzing its components, then breaking the standard into smaller, more explicit instructional learning targets for use in daily teaching and classroom-level assessment.
Steps in the Unpacking Process:
- Identify the action required of the learner.
- Identify the content in the standard
Identify the specificity in the standards.

Graph linear functions on the coordinate plane and identify key features, including x-intercept, y-intercept, zeros, and slope, in mathematical and real-world problems.
Readiness Standard
9:00-9:30 am - TEAMS Meeting (Synchronous)
9:30-10:15am - Instructional Implications (Asynchronous Learning)
Plan for the week with the end in mind. The first step will be to write an exemplar you want students to produce to show their thinking and understanding of the concept that was taught during the week.
Your task:
- Read the action steps and the guiding questions for Instructional Implications on the EISD Planning Protocol.
- Create an exemplar for the performance task at the adult level.
- Use the guiding questions to support the development of the exemplar.
- The margins should include strategies, guiding questions, vocabulary, and misconceptions that should be considered when planning for the week for students to be successful on the performance task.
- Review the interim assessment and STAAR questions that are aligned to the week of instruction. Note any skills, misconceptions, or concepts that will need to be addressed within the mini-lessons.
*The interim assessment covers units 1 & 2 of instruction, look closely and note what you will be teaching in unit 1.
10:15-10:30am - Break
10:30-11:30am - Planning Daily Instruction (Synchronous Learning)

Refer to the EISD Planning Protocol document for guiding questions to ask during planning.
Your task:
- Download a template of the Task Card below.
- Complete a Task Card for week 1 of instruction.
- Post your task card on the Padlet using the link below by 12:30 p.m.
12:30-1:30pm - Lunch
1:30-3:30pm - Create lesson components (videos, assignments, etc.)
