Balclutha Primary School - T4 Wk 1
Newsletter 21 October 2022
Principal's Report
I hope you all had a relaxing and enjoyable term break. The snow in the middle of it certainly made for an additional bit of holiday fun. We are looking forward to a very short, but very busy term ahead.
Staffing and class organisation 2023
Mrs Moodie, our Deputy Principal, will be moving on to a new career challenge next year. While we are very sad to see her go, we would like to thank her for everything she has done for BPS in the last 2 1/2 years and wish her all the best for the future. The DP role has been advertised this week and we hope to make an appointment by the middle of November.
Due to our growing school roll, we will start 2023 with 8 classrooms next year. This is very exciting! We have advertised for the 8th teacher this week and hope to make an appointment for this position by mid November as well.
Once these appointments are made, the Board of Trustees will be able to confirm the composition and organisation of our classes for 2023. We are very excited about the future of BPS and the possibilities next year will bring for our students, staff and school community.
Term calendar
Term 4 is always a crazy busy term. Attached to this newsletter is a term calendar for those parents who like to print it out and pop it on the fridge. This only includes confirmed dates at this stage and more events will be added as the term progresses. We have a school google calendar attached to both our website and the school app, and we endeavour to keep this as updated as we can. Now that our COVID restrictions have been removed, we look forward to having more opportunities for parents to be involved in school activities.
I hope you all have a wonderful long weekend,
Ngā mihi nui,
Vicki.

THE SPUD DIG IS BACK! - Welcome to the 2022 Balclutha Primary Whānau and School Spud in a Bag Competition. This is a competition for pupils to grow a spud in a bag to bring to a potato harvest/meet and greet evening in March/April next year.
During the evening, the spuds will be weighed and there will be prizes awarded for the heaviest shore, heaviest spud, ugliest spud and a few other spot prizes as well. Full instructions have already been sent home with the spud and the bag and are also attached to this newsletter.
