Newsletter 21 October 2022

Principal's Report

Kia Ora e te Whānau and welcome to Week 1 of Term 4.

I hope you all had a relaxing and enjoyable term break. The snow in the middle of it certainly made for an additional bit of holiday fun. We are looking forward to a very short, but very busy term ahead.

Staffing and class organisation 2023

Mrs Moodie, our Deputy Principal, will be moving on to a new career challenge next year. While we are very sad to see her go, we would like to thank her for everything she has done for BPS in the last 2 1/2 years and wish her all the best for the future. The DP role has been advertised this week and we hope to make an appointment by the middle of November.

Due to our growing school roll, we will start 2023 with 8 classrooms next year. This is very exciting! We have advertised for the 8th teacher this week and hope to make an appointment for this position by mid November as well.

Once these appointments are made, the Board of Trustees will be able to confirm the composition and organisation of our classes for 2023. We are very excited about the future of BPS and the possibilities next year will bring for our students, staff and school community.

Term calendar

Term 4 is always a crazy busy term. Attached to this newsletter is a term calendar for those parents who like to print it out and pop it on the fridge. This only includes confirmed dates at this stage and more events will be added as the term progresses. We have a school google calendar attached to both our website and the school app, and we endeavour to keep this as updated as we can. Now that our COVID restrictions have been removed, we look forward to having more opportunities for parents to be involved in school activities.

I hope you all have a wonderful long weekend,

Ngā mihi nui,

Vicki.

Room 1

The students in Room 1 have had a great start to Term 4. They have enjoyed settling back into routines and being back with their friends.

Room 12

Room 12 students have had a great start to Term 4 with Skip teaching us some cricket skills.

Thank You!

BPS would like to say a huge thank you to the Lowe family who have kindly donated the proceeds of selling a calf to the school. This money will go towards our refresh of the junior reading books.

Room 4

This week Room 4 have been learning about throwing, catching and aiming. We are getting better at pointing to where we want the ball to go before we throw it, to help with accuracy.

School Photos

School Photo order forms were sent home earlier this week. If you would like to place an order, complete the order form and return to the school office by Friday 4 November i.e. end of week 3.

Room 2

The students in Room 2 spent some time talking about sun safety and how to protect ourselves in the summer months. We designed sunhats with symmetrical patterns and made our own suns in the afternoon to brighten up the class.
