Special Board Meeting
At the August 30, 2022 Special Board Meeting, the following presentation was given on BUSD’s Unaudited Actuals.
Youth Leadership Program Application
Assembly Speaker, District 63, Anthony Rendon has announced the 2022-2023 Youth Leadership Program. Sophomores and juniors who live in the cities of Bell, Bellflower, Cudady, Hawaiian Gardens, Huntington Park, Lakewood, Lynwood, Maywood, North Long Beach, Paramount, South Gate and Walnut Park can apply.
The program is designed to help students learn about the fundamentals of civic engagement, community organizing, and government. The program will start in September and will meet monthly. Although the flyer states that applications are due September 2nd, we have confirmed that you may continue to submit applications until the application is no longer available on the Assembly member’s website.
Welcome Sabriya Pedretti - New ECE Director
Ms. Pedretti is a dedicated educational leader who strives to support students and families in the community. She is a seasoned professional who has extensive experience in teaching at the elementary level, has served as program coordinator for before and after school programs, a site administrator at the middle school, elementary and early childhood levels. Ms. Pedretti understands the power of education, the importance of literacy and focuses her efforts with our youngest learners. She believes that early learning is the foundation of all learning. She is committed to supporting a high quality literacy based early learning program that serves our youngest students.
Ms. Pedretti has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from California State Fullerton University, earned her teaching credential from Azusa Pacific University, and a Masters of Arts degree in Educational Leadership from Point Loma Nazarene University. She spends the majority of her time with family. She loves traveling, exploring new places, enjoys nature and relaxing with friends. She is looking forward to serving the community of Bellflower Unified School District.
Bellflower and Mayfair Middle/High Schools Back to School Nights
Bellflower Middle/High School and Mayfair Middle/High School staff welcomed students and their families on campus for Back to School Night this week. Parents were able to visit classrooms, meet faculty members and see what is in store for the 2022-2023 school year. Thank you to all the parents who attended and staff at all sites for their hard work in making the events a success.
