Columbia Central Weekly Bulletin
Week of December 4th, 2022
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Special thanks to Kiera Kuper, 5th grade teacher, and Karoline Giza, 8th grade teacher, for leading our school play this year. It was a wonderful performance and a packed house for both shows this weekend. Also, we appreciate the support George Patterson, school custodian, provided for the sound and lighting. There are many other staff members that stepped up to make this year’s play special. Thank you parents for ensuring our students made it to play practice on those late evening nights throughout the year.
As always, please reach out to me should you feel a need to throughout the year. Let's have a great week!
Dr. Steve Carnes
Columbia Principal

Update From the Assistant Principal
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Columbia Central in partnership with the Steger Police Department will conduct a walk-through lockdown drill on Monday, Dec. 12, 2022. This drill is required annually in every Illinois school by the State of Illinois.
The purpose of this drill is to evaluate the preparedness of school personnel and students in response to a school shooting threat.
This drill will not include simulations that mimic an actual school shooting incident or event. Students at Columbia Central will be allowed to ask questions related to the drill while the drill is occurring.
We will make sure our students know this is a drill. We will cover with them the classroom procedures involved with this type of drill.
Parents or guardians wishing to exempt their child from the drill may contact our front office by Friday, Dec. 9, 2022 at (708) 753-4700. Students who do not participate will receive alternative safety education and instruction through less sensorial safety training methods.
Thank you.
Tom Aguirre
Queridos padres y guardianes,
Gracias.
