Cache in Concrete
2016 - How'd it go?
Sponsors - thanks for being involved!
Because of your support, Cache in Concrete 2016 was a success:
- Last year we had 17 sponsors; this year we had 32!
- Last year we distributed 900 booklets; this year we distributed 1500!
- More than 1000 of those were picked up by locals and tourists from YOU (local Concrete businesses), perused, and enjoyed.
If you have pamphlets and coins leftover, feel free to recycle or toss them now.
What is Cache in Concrete? What were people looking for?
- Last year we hid 9 boxes in places around town; this year we "hid" signs (much easier to replace if needed!).
- Each sign had the answer to a historical question on it, an answer to a fun riddle, and a QR code that when snapped by a smartphone, led to Cache in Concrete's facebook page.
- When people finished the Cache trail, we invited them to return to a participating business for a souvenir prize token.
HISTORIC PHOTOS on facebook
This year, the Concrete Heritage Museum Association gathered some historic photos for us that related to the history-themed Q&As at each Cache location. We created some photo albums on Cache in Concrete's facebook page to display some of Concrete's rich history.

Your feedback
I went around and asked a few of you (Sponsors) for suggestions and feedback. These were the main points I took away:
- Many of you asked "When does it end?" Next year it would be better to have a specific timeline/deadline.
- Perhaps have some Cache signs inside local businesses, so participants need to walk into businesses.
- More advertising! Perhaps a first-person story or blog.
- Great that it's a Concrete specific pamphlet.
If you have more suggestions or feedback for next year, do let me know @ bpederson@upperskagit.lib.wa.us.
