Greetings,
We've had another great week in fifth grade. The actors have completed their Shakespeare character bios and portraits. Check them out in the hall. Rehearsals are coming right along. Please continue to encourage 20 minutes of line rehearsal daily - out loud. We will be out of script after Christmas and that will be here before we know it.
We took a "field trip" up to the church on Wednesday. The students are working on descriptive writing and will be using sensory words to explain their experience at church/Mass. They walked around the sanctuary in silence recording all the things they picked up with their senses: cool Baptismal water, soft sound of feet on carpet. . .They also remember sights and sounds at Mass: bells, incense, Alleluia, the taste of Eucharist on the tongue. . . We consider our soul a "sense." How does the soul "feel" at Mass? I can't wait to see how these evolve. I love working in a place where religion and academics are as natural as the air we breathe. How blessed we are!
I hope you all have a wonderful three day weekend. Remember to thank a Veteran. I know I will have the Veterans in my life foremost in my mind as we celebrate this day honoring our brave men and women of the armed forces. I am truly grateful for their service to our country.
Pax,
