Knightly Update August 1, 2021
ACP High School - Edition Vol 1 Issue 4
We had a nice first full week of school, and it has been fun meeting and speaking with our students. Last week, I began my annual visits to our English classes to get to know the students, let them get to know me, and share our school's guiding philosophies and important rules and policies. I want to thank our English teachers for giving me the opportunity to conduct these meetings each year. I will continue to speak with our students for this week. If your child has any questions after these presentations, please have them contact me.
Students were informed of a change to our daily traditional (periods 1-6; M, T, & F) schedule last week. SUCCESS will now be "attached" to first period. Students will return to their first period class for SUCCESS as opposed to their second period. Our teachers will remind students of this change on Monday as this new structure will begin tomorrow, August 2nd.
As we head into the month of August, there are a few events to make note. The first is our New to ACP Family Orientation that will be held on Monday, August 9th in our school's auditorium. ACP administration, along with other staff, will discuss steps families can take to help their child make a successful transition to high school or to ACP in general. Next, please make plans to attend our Meet-the-Teacher Night on Wednesday, August 18th. Meet-the-Teacher will begin at 6:00 PM (5:30 for aspiring athletes) and will follow an established schedule throughout the evening (see below). The final date for students to mark on their calendar is our Back-to-School Student Pool Party. This event occurs on Friday, August 20th from 7:00-9:00 at the Hamilton Aquatic Center. Additional information is included in today's newsletter. I hope to see our students in attendance.
Like last year, we continuously monitor the health and safety needs of our students, staff and campus. Mitigation policies as directed by CUSD are in place and the placement of hand sanitizing stations in our new building is being completed. We encourage our students to take the steps necessary to ensure they are safe and comfortable while on campus. If you or your child has any questions, please contact me.
Finally, I want to apologize for the "free car wash" we have been providing during parent drop-off and pick-up. With the planting of grass seed, the ground needs to be watered frequently. I have asked Core construction to adjust the times that the grass is watered to avoid spraying vehicles. These adjustments were made during the day Friday. I apologize for the inconvenience and water spots. A sincere thank you to those of you that have been following established drop-off and pick-up parameters while helping to maintain a safe traffic environment for the entire school community. It is appreciated. We continue to monitor drive times and I am pleased to share that they have been decreasing as the days progress. Thank you for your patience and understanding with this process.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend. If there is anything I can do for you or your student, please do not hesitate to contact me. Have a great week and thank you for choosing ACPHS. Go, KNIGHTS!!
Rob Bickes
Principal

Please Make a Tax Credit Donation
If you are able to make your tax contributions early in the year, your donation would be greatly appreciated and give us a jump start on some of our essential extracurricular activities. We have set a goal to collect approximately $50.00 per family for a total of $57,500.00 and hope that you will be willing to help us meet our goal. Thank you for supporting your child and our school!
Tax Credit Basics…
A tax credit donation is a full refund, not a deduction. Contributions eligible for a tax credit are donated directly to schools, not to the state or school district. To participate or learn more, follow the link listed below to donate online or you can complete the enclosed form and submit your contribution at your convenience.
http://www.cusd80.com/taxcredit
Arizona Law ARS 43-1089.01 enables taxpayers a tax credit contribution of up to $400.00 per year if filing status is “Married, filing Joint Return;” $200.00 per calendar year if filing status is “Single of Head of Household;” and $200 per calendar year if filing status is “Married filing separate returns.” These contributions fund extracurricular activities in public schools and greatly impact our school community and our students.
