Message from Mr. McDermott
Today, I will ask once again to please follow the signs in the parent drop off loop. Do not stop to drop your student off by band, the front office, or the first classroom building. Please pull as far forward as possible prior to stopping and turn right out of the drop off line. If everyone cooperates, there will be much less frustration.
As you are aware, second quarter is very short this year. Please make sure you monitor and speak to your student regarding there progress. As always, if you need any assistance please reach out to us.
Don't forget, Wednesday, 11/10/21 is an early release day.
New Bell Times for Second Semester
Teacher and Staff Member of the Month
Florida Civic Literacy Examination
The state has required a new test called the Florida Civic Literacy Examination (FCLE). This test is required of students (typically seniors) enrolled in certain U.S. Government courses and will be required of college students as well. Beginning with students initially entering a Florida College System institution or state university in the 2021-2022 school year and thereafter, each student must demonstrate competency in civic literacy by achieving a passing score on an assessment and by successfully completing a civic literacy course. The Florida Civic Literacy Examination (FCLE) is the assessment used to meet this requirement. If a student passes this assessment while in high school, they are exempt from the postsecondary exam requirement.
In conclusion, those students taking U.S. Government this semester will be taking this exam on December 10th. It is an 80 minute test, but the students may take up to half the school day.
