Hertzog Headlines
recent happenings in 4th grade - February 8 - February 12
Whew! What a week! With Valentine's excitement, early dismissal and some extra guest speakers, this week just flew by! We continued working on theme and our informational pieces in ELA. Informational writings will be due at the end of next week. Please check in with your student on how theirs is coming! Math we continued fractions. We are adding and subtracting now. Your student should be able to add and subtract fractions and mixed numbers with the SAME DENOMINATORS! We also began our Social Studies unit on government.
Day of Service
Our class will go to Truman Medical Center to participate in inter-generational activities on February 26th. Thank you to the parents who have volunteered to go with us! Other grade levels are still needing donations if you are willing and able to donate. The following donations are requested: gently used or new shoes, 1 yard of fleece, fabric scissors, hand towels, full sized shampoo bottles and canned food items.
Multiplication
Be sure to continue working on multiplication facts! We have made a lot of progress since the beginning of the year and are just over halfway to our 4th grade goal of 80 facts in 4 minutes. We made a big gain this week! One student said to me, "Wow, I've been practicing and I got a lot better!" Practice does help!
