The Saint Francis University Science Outreach Center will again be hosting the PA Statistics Poster Competition for 2016. About the 2016 Competition
- Open to all K-12 students in Pennsylvania.
- Four grade level categories: K-3, 4-6, 7-9, and 10-12.
- Submission deadline is February 29th.
- Cash prizes and certificates are awarded for first, second, third, and fourth place in each category.
- Certificates awarded for honorable mentions in each category.
- Winning posters from Pennsylvania Competition are submitted to the National Statistics Poster Competition.
Who Can Participate?
Teachers from across Pennsylvania are encouraged to incorporate the Statistics Poster Competition into their classrooms. Collaborative efforts between subjects can be an exciting way to show how mathematics relates to other subjects such as health, geography, history, science, etc.
Teachers who incorporate the PA Statistics Poster Competition into their classrooms register and submit the posters on behalf of their students. A student working independently can submit a poster via a parent or mentor.
Registration deadline for 2016 competition is February 29th. Online Registrations must be received and posters must be postmarked by midnight Monday, February 29th.
CASE Data Re-Collection is Around the Corner – February 1st through February 29th
Our district will once again be partnering with BrightBytes, an educational research and analytics organization, to learn more about our schools’ technology use for student learning. To better show our growth over the past year, and showcase the impact of our initiatives, we have made a commitment to re-collect. Our goal is to gather metrics on technology access and skills, and on our district’s technology environment, in order to understand the connection between technology use and student achievement. Re-collection also allows us to prioritize different initiatives based on the changes in our profile.
We will be asking students and teachers to participate in the project and to provide input via a short questionnaire. Your participation is important to us and will make the difference between having a complete versus a limited understanding of our district’s technology use. Over the next few weeks, you will receive more information.
See someone going above and beyond...email or leave a note for Mrs. Mercado so we can celebrate and acknowledge each other through the staff spotlight section of the Monday Memo!
