Well. Who Would Have Thought?
We are #TeamPenn
I'm not sure I have the "right words" at this moment in time. I'm not sure there are any. One of my biggest recommendations for all of us is to try and not get caught up in the "what's next?" because things are just changing so rapidly. I remember towards the end of the PG&E power shutdown, people were able to settle into their new way of life more easily than expected. In fact, some people were sad to see those lights flicker back on. One thing I can tell you is that we'll get through this together and we'll keep safety a priority. Once again, our year round schedule allows us the benefit of watching and learning from others. I am in daily contact with the other elementary principals. We are sharing our questions, concerns, and everything in between with each other and with Cabinet. If you have things you'd like me to bring up or ask on your behalf, please send them my way. Just remember, don't stress now about details, when there are still many big picture things to put in place.
I will send out a Penngrove Press to families in the coming days with resources for our students. Thanks to Heather L. for helping me find some real gems! Our social media pages will have a daily highlight re: activities, community resources, etc. If you find anything amazing, send it my way!
When at all possible, I will be sharing information with you virtually so we can contribute to the global efforts to mitigate community spread. I'll work on learning Zoom, so our meetings don't need to be face to face whenever possible. If we do for any reason have to be together, you can be assured that we'll be keeping the recommended distance from each other as outlined by the CDC. If you're immunocompromised, 65 or older, or have traveled recently, we should work together to make a safe plan.
Take these days to enjoy the outdoors (far away from others), sip your favorite beverage, cook a new meal, read a book, start a project you've been procrastinating, rediscover a favorite game, do a little gardening, the list goes on.
Let's commit to staying connected, checking on each other and being our best for ourselves, our families and our friends.
Sending so many hugs,
Amy
