Principal's Message
Greetings Elm Families,
We hope everyone had a wonderful week! We are only a few short weeks away from the end of the Trimester. As a reminder, please check in on your student and their progress. If you have any concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to your students teachers!
As a reminder we have no school next week on Friday, January 28th as it is a District Institute Day for our teachers and staff.
Additionally it's time for our 5Essentials Survey. Take a few minutes and complete this survey, your feedback is greatly appreciated.
Please take a few minutes and read through this week’s Courier! As always, should you need anything, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me directly. Stay safe! #TeamElmStrong

West 40 Advocacy Program - Student Support
We are fortunate to be adding additional support and resources for our students! Through West 40, we have two Advocates or individuals who will be in the building to help support our students. Our Advocates are brought to us through a program called ALOP, Alternative Learning Opportunities Program. Advocates are here to support students academically, socially and emotionally. To read more about ALOP's program, please visit their website here.
Please see bios for our ALOP Support Team here. Join us in welcoming them to Elm!

Here are some resources for you that were presented at our Parent Partnership this week focusing on Communicating with Your Student:
We watched this short Ted Talk given by a teen for parents and the group discussed the 1 page resource linked below.

1 Pager Communication Resource for Parents
We also went through the Trimester 2 Reset we presented to students last week. We reviewed expectations, conflict management ideas and parameters to follow for social media. Please look through the presentation and review with your student.
We look forward to continuing to partner with parents as we support our students! We will be offering these discussions at different times in order to accommodate different schedules. We also will have translator available for any Spanish speaking families.
Our next meeting will be March 2nd at 6pm in the Elm Middle School Library and our topic will be motivating the unmotivated student.
