SIRS Database Use
Tips for Success
Be Flexible and Allow Time to Explore
Research takes time and patience. Plan accordingly so that you are not searching at the last minute.
Using the SIRS database
Search for sources in the A to Z list or enter a topic in the search box.
Suggested questions, or positions related to the topic, are under the PRO/CON Issues section. Click to find related articles.
The related sources (articles) will be under the position statements. Click to open the article.
Articles that are determined to be useful can be saved to "My List" by checking the box next to "Add to My List."
If you choose to add articles to your list, access your list by clicking on "My List." Copy and paste your list to a Google Doc for further use.
From the article, access the citation by clicking on "Citation." Find more articles related to certain topics by selecting the appropriate box, and clicking "Find Similar."
Filter the results by clicking on the appropriate choice in the drop down, or narrow your results by type of source in the box.
