Dangers of a Summer "Break"
All too often, summers are spent with children video gaming, on the computer, or simply "chilling". In fact, a 2007 study published in the American Journal of Public Health revealed that the body mass indexes (BMI) of more than 5,000 kindergartners and 1st graders increased by nearly twice as much during the summer "break" in comparison to the school year. Unhealthy Weight gain, related to a sedentary lifestyle can lead to health problems for children, and continue into their adulthood. So please turn your summer "break" into a summer "boost" by staying active!
