5th GRADE Reach Life Skill Classes Starting Soon!
A few weeks ago, your child brought home a packet from the REACH Council of Ellis County explaining a great opportunity for our 5th graders. The REACH Council works with all the schools in Ellis County to promote positive and healthy choices for our students as they are growing up. We are very excited to announce that they will be coming to meet with our 5th graders for sessions on important Life Skills. These include: Self-esteem, Decision-Making, Dealing with Stress, Communication Skills, and much more. The attachments explain everything in detail and should answer most of your questions.
All 5th graders are able to participate. The sessions will be held on Tuesdays during Social Studies. They will last approximately 30 minutes. The first session is next Tuesday, September 19th.
If you want your child to participate, then you do not need to do anything at this time.
If you do NOT want your child to participate, you need to return the OPT OUT form stating that you do NOT want them to come to the sessions. Again, please ONLY return the form if you do NOT want your child to participate. If you need another copy of the form, you can print it from this email or request it from your child’s teacher. All OPT OUT forms need to be submitted prior to September 19th.
If you have any questions, you can contact me using the information below.
Sincerely,

Hello Parents! I hope you are having a wonderful week!
I wanted to take a moment to say how thankful I am for each and every one of your children and for you. I was so happy to see both the old and new faces this week. My heart is overflowing! I also would like to talk to you about something very close to my heart: the wellbeing of all of our Schupmann students and families.
To that end, I wanted to let you know that our district offers a few resources if you ever feel that your child or any member of your family is in need of counseling due to trauma or any other concern.
1. The first program is called Care Solace, and it is a matching program. They take your name and insurance information and they find counselors near you that fit your needs. They do all of the leg work so that you don’t have to. We have had some very positive reports from parents and families to this program. Finding a counselor can sometimes be the hardest part, and this service makes it much quicker and easier to find your perfect match.
2. The other service we offer is through Children’s Medical Center (now known as Children’s Health). Children’s will give any student on our campus 4 free online counseling sessions. These sessions can be done at the school on a special tablet (or online from home) so that no travel/getting to appointments is necessary. They can get 4 free sessions and then if there continues to be a need, Children’s will work directly with you to set that up.
Lastly, I’d like to remind you that although our school’s primary purpose is education, we also want to be a light and servants to our community. So, if you ever find your family in need, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We can’t always fix everything, but we can strive to meet needs beyond the classroom – especially when those needs affect our students’ ability to stay focused or be at school.
Remember, attendance is so important. If there is ever anything stopping you from getting your kids to school each day, please also let us know so we can find or provide assistance and support.
As always, please never hesitate to reach out if I can ever do anything for your child or your family.
Sincerely,
Angela Bartels
