Temporary Classroom Instruction Changes to Impact Some Students
Collegiate Academy Parents,
Next week your scholar may be impacted by temporary changes to the way classroom instruction is delivered. You are being provided this information in advance to give families time to ask questions and prepare for adjustments to upcoming learning days.
Virtual Students Districtwide (Friday, January 29, 2021 and Monday, February 1, 2021)
On Friday, Jan. 29 and Monday, Feb. 1, all virtual scholars districtwide will be provided classwork assignments to complete independently, but virtual scholars will have no live instruction on these dates. There will be no change for scholars who are attending school in-person and they should plan on attending school in-person as usual on Friday, January 29, 2021 and Monday, February 1, 2021.
The purpose of this change for virtual scholars is to provide campuses with time to make classroom adjustments as we transition into the third 9 week grading period. Over the past few weeks, parents were able to make learning preference changes between in-person and virtual learning and now those changes are being put into place.
Duncanville High School (Tuesday, January 26, 2021)
For Duncanville High School scholars who are in virtual learning, there is an additional schedule adjustment next week. The PSAT/NMSQT is being administered at Duncanville High School on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 for 10th and 11th grade scholars. On this day all virtual scholars at Duncanville High School will receive no live instruction and will be provided classwork assignments to complete independently. There will be no change for scholars who are attending school in-person and they should plan on attending school in-person as usual.
The PSAT/NMSQT testing process will begin promptly at 7:30 am and will last approximately two hours and 45 minutes once the test has started. The PSAT/NMSQT measures skills that are important for success in college and is also a tool for Advanced Placement (AP) courses. For juniors, the PSAT is the qualifying test for entry into the National Merit Scholarship competitions for college scholarships and is an excellent practice for the SAT.
If the districtwide virtual scholar change or high school testing date impacts your scholar, please note the date change in your calendar. If you have questions, please contact your scholar’s teacher or counselor.
