Fencing for Prestwick Playground
Hip hip hooray ~ the LEISD School Board approved the financial support to provide fencing to our playground area. This need has become more apparent as the construction continues to boom in our area. It will provide a safety barrier and serve as a visual cue to prevent students from the cross streets as well as provide boundaries for the area used often for play during the school day. The fencing will go a great distance around the perimeter to allow for expansion and free moving space for our learners.
Construction is set to begin very soon and installation should not take long at all. Please be advised that this should not limit student use of the eqiupment during daytime recess. If we find it does you will be advised promptly.
Help me in giving thanks to Dr. Strike, LEISD leadership and our LEISD school board for their quick responsiveness to needs of the Prestwick STEM Community.
State Testing This Week
Testing Days Reminders
A few reminders for these testing days for your learner:
- Students should arrive on time. Please do your best to make sure there are not any conflicts with out of school appointments on these days for your student.
- Get a good night’s rest in order to feel alert and ready to focus.
- Eat a healthy breakfast either at home or at school.
- Have a positive send off for your student in the am. Students should feel supported by you as well as confident that they are prepared. We know some nerves are typical and healthy. Again we will assure students that all the hard work until this point of the year is their preparation.
We want to remind parents and students that on testing day all cell phones and/or electronics must be turned in to teachers during the test for test security reasons. Cell phones will be taken care of and returned as soon as testing has concluded. Thanks in advance for reminding your student to do so.

Dear Industry Representatives,
Career Day is rapidly approaching and we need YOUR experiences! We are looking for a variety of people interested in spending time talking to our students about their career.
Many of our students are unaware of the career opportunities available to them and this is a fantastic way to provide them with first hand knowledge of potential career pathways.
This is also a great way for you to get involved at PSA and make an impact on the students’ future.
If you are not interested but know someone who is, please give them (or us) the necessary contact information. Participants may click here or go to https://goo.gl/forms/vpPg4BUMkxBI5kEA2 to register.

Staff Spotlight
Greetings Lobos! The core value for this month is service and with that, PSA would like to introduce our service-minded School Counselor and vital member of our campus leadership team, Mrs. Sandy Burrell. Mrs. Burrell provides oversight to our 504, Student Support Team, Lobo Ambassador Sponsorship, food/clothing support (LovePacs), scheduling, counseling, and Core Value Guidance classes. Mrs. Burrell has 19 years of service as a school counselor. Mrs. Burrell holds a Bachelor’s degree in Home Economics from Baylor University and a Master’s degree in Education-Guidance and Counseling from UT-San Antonio.
There are multiple facets that Mrs. Burrell loves about being a school counselor, but for Mrs. Burrell, the best part of being a counselor is “being able to work with kids and helping them become successful by meeting their emotional and psychological needs.” Mrs. Burrell loves the relationships she forms with kids through individual and group counseling and Core Value Guidance Classes. Additionally, Mrs. Burrell feels blessed to be able to serve and provide through our benevolence program which provides food, clothing, and school supplies to PSA families and kids in need.
Mrs. Burrell is the proud wife to her wonderful husband James, and they have three amazing kids-Luke, Lauren and Landon. When Mrs. Burrell is not serving our students and community, Mrs. Burrell loves spending quality time with family, attending her kids’ sporting events, reading, and trying new awesome restaurants. PSA is proud to have Mrs. Burrell’s servant heart to meet the needs of our PSA families and students.
Prestwick Humble Helpers are Asking for New Socks!
If you want to donate a new pair of socks to help out those who may need it, please drop off your items in the front office. Warm feet are always a good thing when houses are cold and to wear with shoes. It's a small item, we sometimes take for granted. If you are out and about this weekend, pick up a pair!
