Good afternoon Beaumont Families
I just want to send a shout out to the following groups of people:
Our Essential Workers: Thank you for fighting the good fight in keeping all of us safe, fed and healthy.
Beaumont Teachers and Support Staff: They have been working tirelessly to prepare for this upcoming week and learn new technology to better serve all of our students. Their compassion is overwhelming and I am so grateful for their hard work and dedication.
Beaumont Families: This is new... and hard. Please know that we all understand that this is challenging for every family in their own way. Some of you are working in the home and trying to mange schooling at home, some of you are still working outside of the home, and some of you are stressed because you are not working at all. Trust me when I say, that Beaumont staff will meet you where you are in your needs. We know that everyone is doing their best. We applaud ALL of you!
Beaumont Students: I am so proud of how resilient and adaptable so many of our students have been in the last few weeks. Keep up the good work and keep sharing what you are doing at home- no matter what it is! We want to hear from you!
The district provided Extended Learning Packets are on their way. They all have been mailed at this time. All families should have their packets at some point this week. Packets were sent to the address that was on file with the school as of April 9th. If this is not your current address, the packet will be sent back to the Crary building. The district is in the process of organizing a "packet pickup" for families that did not receive their packet. Please be patient as more information on this will be coming. Also, please make sure that we have your most up-to-date information for future use.
As part of your student's extended learning, teachers will schedule at least two Google Meets per week to check in with students, provide instruction, or facilitate a community circle. It is the expectation that teachers and students have TWO WEEKLY CONNECTIONS per week. If students do not attend the Google Meets, expect the teacher to reach out in different ways such as phone calls, emails, etc. Remember, most of the time, teachers want to interact with the student. We are always here to help parents as well and answer your questions, but it is just as important to keep the connection with kids. Please make sure that when students are logging into their Google Meet, that they log in with their school email address. Most Meets are recorded, and if students are on an outside email, the system will boot them out of the meet.
Ashley Gray and her Behavior Interventionist Team will be working with the 4th and 5th graders (on a volunteer basis) to discuss concerns, issues and topics of interest on Thursdays from 11-12 PM. Also, they want to meet with ALL the fifth graders in the district to talk about their transition to middle school. These meetings will be on Friday from 2-3 PM. Again, this will be on a volunteer basis only. Google Meet links and times will be on your teacher's Google Classroom for easy access.
Beaumont is hosting a Scholastic online Book Fair from April 15, 2020 - April 28, 2020! Take advantage of free shipping on book-only orders over $25. You also get $5 off when you spend $35. I will be hosting a "Conversations with the Principal" on Thursday afternoon at 5 PM. Join me for a Zoom meeting to ask questions and just to chat and reconnect. We are all in this together and I miss connecting with our families.
I hope to see many of you there!
