Westview Weekly

Success for all, whatever it takes!

Issue 5: September 19-23, 2016

Happy Friday! If you are like me, you can hardly believe that today marks the midterm of the 1st quarter. This year is absolutely flying by.

Although the year is flying by, I am making sure to savor each day that I am here. This week, I had the privilege of observing in several, highly engaging classrooms. Students were working on a variety of topics including phonics, more than/less than, non-fiction text features, and creating Indian festival elephants, and more.

Each classroom I visited was focused on student learning through collaborative dialogue, interactive learning, and high-interest materials. Kudos to all of those classrooms! I look forward to continuing my observations in the classrooms I have not yet visited, as I know that each of you will also provide exceptional learning opportunities.

I also want to thank all of you for your commitment to our students and parents at last night's PIE night. We had a larger turn out than last year, and I heard only positive comments from parents. They relish the opportunity to talk with each of you, and last night was an outward sign of our continued dedication to "Success for all, whatever it takes."

As you wrap up your week today and put the finishing touches on next week's lesson plans, I wish for each of you a restful, relaxing, and rejuvenating weekend. May your days be filled with family, fun, and fall-like weather.

Blessings,

Brandyn
