Woodriver Issue #24 2/4/22

Hello Wolf Pup parents!

Tuesday night our school board voted 4 to 3 to close Anderson, Joy, and

Nordale elementary schools next year. Nordale will be repurposed for BEST, E-

Learning and District-wide Special Education programs. They also voted to move all

6th graders to the middle schools. Starting next year Woodriver will be a K-5 school.

That means that this year's 5th graders will be transitioning to Middle School next

year. This decision was made in an effort to save money. Currently our district

faces an approximate 19-million-dollar budget deficit. With the closure of two in-

town schools there will also have to be a redrawing of our district boundaries.

These boundary changes could lead to student/families being moved to different

schools next year. As more information becomes available, I will be sure share it

with you.

Congratulations to Emma Supanick who is our 3rd place Wolf Pup speller. Andrew

Anderson and Kolton Adams are our two alternates who could represent Woodriver

if one of the other students are unavailable for the district spelling bee.

Next week Woodriver will be holding the National Assessment of Educational

Progress (NAEP) testing. Random 4th grade students will be chosen to take this test

on Thursday February 10th .
