Field Trip Need to Knows

  • We will be leaving first thing Wednesday morning.
  • If your child is packing a lunch, make sure everything is disposable. Putting it in a gallon size ziploc keeps everything together. Please label with your child's name.
  • Your child should wear their Greens Prairie t-shirt, comfortable shorts/pants, and tennis shoes. We will be doing a lot of walking.
  • Please still pack your child a water bottle to leave in the classroom. When we return, they will be tired and thirsty!
  • If you are meeting us there, we will arrive at 9:30.

Pumpkin Carving Time

We will be carving pumpkins Friday at 1:00. If you would like to join us or send in a pumpkin to be carved, please let me know. I would like to make sure I have a pumpkin and tools for each adult. The smaller the groups, the more the children are able to help. We will also be making applesauce on Friday. If anyone would like to donate spoons or small bowls that would be wonderful!

Homework Bags

Please continue to work in the homework skill bag 2-3 times each week for about 15 minutes. The activities are great ways to build foundations. A few of the children have been excited to share letters, sounds, and sight words during our writing that they are working on at home. They are so proud!

This week your child will be bringing home a book. These are A-Z Readers that I am able to copy. It allows us to highlight and work in the books before taking them home. We have worked together studying the picture clues and practicing reading together and individually. Your child has memorized this book. This is beginning reading! Please encourage them to read the book to everyone! Reinforce sliding their finger under each word. Beginning reading is knowing that sets of letters make up words and when you run out of words, you stop reading.

Family Book Fair Dinner and Games

I encourage you to come Tuesday evening for the book fair dinner from 5:30-7:30. You can enjoy an Olive Garden dinner, view the books available, and play card and dice math games in the kinder and 1st grade pods. You are welcome to purchase dinner even if you did not send in the reservation sheet. All families that attend will receive a bag with dice and cards! It will be my first book fair night to miss. My son, Garrett, has a baseball game.

Red Ribbon Week

Monday- wear RED

Tuesday- wear GREEN (change due to 3rd grade musical)

Wednesday- wear western clothes (kinder dress for the field trip)

Thursday- wear RED, WHITE, and BLUE

Friday- wear your favorite team shirt, jersey, or GP shirt

Book Fair

Due to the Book Fair we will not have library this week. Please feel free to shop Tuesday evening during the Family Dinner night, before or after school, or enjoy lunch this week with your child and take them to the book fair M-R. Kinder students don't always understand why they can't have the books they want when we preview so I will leave it up to you to shop with your children. Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
