5ESSENTIALS PARENT SURVEY- DUE MARCH 11
District 303 participates in the annual Illinois 5Essentials Survey that collects feedback from our students, teachers, and parents. Your participation in the parent portion of the survey will give you the opportunity to share your thoughts on important elements of school effectiveness. The responses will help us understand the conditions at your child’s school and guide our improvement efforts. All responses are confidential and will never be connected to you or your child.
The Parent Survey is currently open and will remain so through March 11, 2022. WE ARE REQUESTING THAT ALL PARENTS COMPLETE THIS SURVEY. To take the survey, please visit https://survey.5-essentials.org/Illinois/ and select the appropriate survey. As part of this communication, we have included a link to graphics of the login page with additional information about how to access the survey. Most notably, make sure you enter Kane County in the box for county even if your home or your child’s school is in DuPage County. This will allow you to correctly select your child’s school.
On behalf of the Illinois State Board of Education, the Illinois 5Essentials Survey is administered online by UChicago Impact at the University of Chicago. The survey gathers data related to five indicators that can predict important student outcomes, including improved attendance and larger test score gains. These five indicators that affect and predict school success are:
We value your feedback and appreciate you taking the time to provide us with your input. For more information about the Illinois 5Essentials Survey, or if you have any questions or concerns, please contact 5Essentials Client Services at 1-866-440-1874 or email@example.com.

COMPASS CARES, MONTHLY SERVICE LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES FOR STUDENTS
This week, we will hold our first Compass Cares event! The service learning opportunity this week will occur during flex time on Thursday in the Commons and it will involve student volunteers creating items to support animal care at Anderson Humane. Students who participate in Compass Cares events will have the opportunity to demonstrate global citizenship while earning service hours. Students who earn the required number of hours of service credit and engage in reflective opportunities afterwards may earn a .5 elective credit.
JOB SHADOWING OPPORTUNITIES IN ST. CHARLES
The city of St. Charles is once again offering job shadowing opportunities for Compass Academy students on Wednesdays! In the city's career pathway job shadow program, Compass students can shadow people in many career fields, including engineering, communications, accounting, firefighting, law enforcement, construction, and vehicle maintenance.
Students may schedule up to three different job shadow experiences per school year, during which they can explore work sites, ask questions, see demonstrations, and learn about education and certifications. Students will be responsible for transportation to and from the City. The date, time, and length of the job shadow will be scheduled outside of school hours directly with the City’s job shadow program coordinator. Compass students should schedule their shadowing on Wednesdays whenever possible.
Interested students should complete the Registration Form and return it to Ms. Ohlson at Compass Academy.
