Many stories, events and artworks created by people with disabilities never make it into history, into books or shared public memories even though people with disabilities are America’s largest minority.

“Beyond Barriers” is taking place to bring attention to the efforts and accomplishments of those of us with disabilities, the value of the ADA with highlighted achievements of what has – fortunately – changed over the past decades as well as raise awareness of efforts that can continue to ensure equal opportunity and access for all Rhode Islanders.

Twenty-five years ago, the Americans with Disabilities Act extended civil rights to millions of Americans. Forty years ago, VSA embarked on a mission to expand arts and arts education opportunities to people with disabilities of all ages. These are indeed powerful reasons to rejoice - - and we hope you will be able come see the show that celebrates these achievements !
