GO COYOTES !!!!!

HALLOWEEN REMINDER

As the time draws near for Halloween, and ensure a safe school day, we wanted to send a reminder of the following guidelines for all students and staff of Combs High School who choose to wear a Halloween costume. We are asking that students and staff not wear masks or face paint that covers their face and their identity. Students can not bring simulated weapons at any time on campus. The CHS dress code will be in place and we would like to thank you in advance for your help as we plan for this holiday.

STANDOUT COYOTES

Joey Jensen named AZ Central Boys Athlete of the Week

CHS junior running back and strong safety, Joey Jensen, had the best game of his high school career on Oct. 18 as the Coyotes (4-4) lost 49-48 in overtime to Glendale (6-2).

Jensen had 38 carries for 327 rushing yards, breaking a single-game school record. He also had six catches for 46 yards and five touchdowns.

“Without great blocking by the lineman it wouldn’t have been possible," Jensen said. "I appreciate them a lot.”

The Coyotes play at Washington High School tonight and will face the Apache Junction Prospectors November 1st at Coyote Stadium.

Meet Ms. Munoz, CHS SO/JR English Teacher

I was born in Nashville, Tennessee and have lived in NY, CA, and AZ. I went to Corona del Sol High School in Tempe, and then to NAU in Flagstaff for both my Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in English, Journalism and secondary education. I have taught at Mt. View High, Skyline High, Desert Ridge High and now Combs High! I also taught at the University of Phx for over 15 years as a second job. I have two teenage daughters who attend Desert Ridge and I am very proud of them. One plays on both the badminton and tennis teams at the JV level and I absolutely love watching her play and improve every single season. The other one cheers and participates in the Speech and Debate team and this past summer was one of only five AZ teens to attend the Speech and Debate National Competition in Dallas, Texas, it was one of my proudest Mom-Moments. We have one dog, a mini-schnauzer named Daisy who is 11 years old. I am divorced. I love to snow ski, travel anywhere, meet up with friends for lunches and dinners, read and read, and I love to write. I would like to become an author one day. I love lakes and oceans, and sometimes just take a drive to water. It is serene and peaceful for me to visit the water. My Dad is a retired pilot and I have been on buddy passes to Alaska, France, London, Malibu, NY, San Francisco, Canada and Niagra Falls and so many fun places for which I am super thankful. I still am blessed enough to have both of my parents, and my sister. I also had a brother, until recently. My family has had a very hard time overcoming the loss of him, he was loving and kind and was a whiz of an engineer. I love Combs, I love meeting everyone here and I am excited to be a part of the wonderful staff here! Thank you for the warm welcome!

CHS BASEBALL GETS A VISIT FROM THE OAKLAND A's AND SUPPORT MY CLUB

The Coyote Baseball Club was thrilled to have a visit from the Oakland A's staff and personnel from Support My Club on the 21st. Theses organizations came together to donate some needed items to our baseball program. They donated a specific infield drag to help smooth the dirt surface along with 4 brand new Bury-all home plates for our fields. The other item is a ball cart used by the batting practice pitchers and will save our staff a whole lot of bending down to get the balls from the ground.

This is the second year of receiving items from Support My Club and the A's and we look forward to working with them in the future!

COUNSELORS CORNER

Did you know? Digital Photography is a Career and Technical Education track for students who want to learn the art of photography, either for personal use or as a future career. Our students who take Digital Photography can earn Adobe Certification in Photoshop upon successful completion of 2 years of Photo AND a passing grade on the exam. Adobe Photoshop is used worldwide by both amateur and professional photographers, and designers who wish to perfect their digital images, and is a great addition to any resume. In fact, many current and former CHS students have successful side businesses using their photography skills to take pictures for families, weddings, dances, and more!

Also, students who wish to take the ACCUPLACER on November 19 need to register to CAC. You can use this link to apply: https://fbrenderer-361.campusnet.net/#/renderer/Applynow?lid=-1.
