Nixon Elementary Weekly Update
September 28, 2020
Week One is in the Books!
We had a great first week of school both in person and remotely. I was able to walk through classrooms, spend time catching up with learners, and popping in to virtual community circle time so I could say hello to our remote Bobcats (I am eager to get into my last few virtual classrooms early this week!).
I just wanted to remind families about a few items as we get this school year rolling full steam. If you know your child will be absent from class (either in person or remotely), please contact the Nixon Attendance line so we can mark your child down as an excused absence. The same is true if you know they will be late to class (in person or remotely) for an appointment. It is also a good idea to let your child's classroom teacher know they will be out, so please consider sending them a quick email to let them know. The Nixon Attendance Line phone number is: 558-2190
For families of In Person Learners, please remember to send back the signed forms from the yellow envelope we sent home last week. Thank you to those who have already sent them back signed, and I look forward to receiving the remaining forms in the upcoming week. Please get those returned to Nixon by October 1st. Also I wanted to shout out to all the families during morning drop off and afternoon pick up. I am so pleased with how smoothly the lines have been going in the Nixon Circle and want to thank families for all of their patience as we started new drop off and pick up procedures. Thank you!
For families of Remote Learners, remember to stop by the school to pick up some classroom materials you will need this fall. All K-5 learners have a packet to pick up, so please be sure to make time this week to swing by and grab your child's materials (M-F 7:30-4:30). You can either call into the office and someone will run it out to your car or you can ring the bell and we'll meet you at the door. In addition, if you are still having connectivity issues or concerns about getting your child online for class, please reach out and we will do our best to problem solve with you!
I hope you had a restful weekend, got to spend some quality time with your children, and are eager to jump back in to week two of school. As always, reach out with any questions you have and enjoy week two of the 2020-2021 school year!
