Storyboard
Oh my goodness this website is exciting! Storyboarding has many class uses including explaining events, describing a process and story retelling. Storyboard That is the most user friendly storyboard site that I have found that is free. Click Log On in the upper right corner and students and staff can sign up with Office 365 or Google account. The free version allows 2 storyboards to be saved per week. When they finish, they download the storyboard as a PDF and turn that in.
Smore
Think a poster is what you want the students to do, try a Smore.
Making a brochure or flyer in the near future, try a Smore.
Want a multimedia presentation but don't want to see a slide show, try a Smore.
I feel I am under-selling this site, but as you can tell, I like. I use it to keep you all informed, but imagine if you assigned the students to make a Smore as if they were President Woodrow Wilson keeping the country up to date on the Versailles Peace talks.
Timeline maker
Web-based timeline software for creating history sharing, project planning and more. Students can can create visually appealing timelines on real or fictional events. This is my preferred website for this purpose.
Prezi
Students can easily create and share presentations that can be made in a spatially specific manner. Prezi puts a normal presentation into motion and allows the students details inside broader topics, literally.
Storybird
Students can create a story from scratch or take pictures and make those pictures tell a story. Storyjumper is easy to use and gives students the tools to use to put the creativity that is in their head out on the computer.
Classtools
Students can make a lot of things using this site. Focus on the arcade games and the students can make their own review game. Students develop their own questions on the unit content that they believe students will need to review the most before the test. Classtools Arcade Game and Pacman is a great motivator.
Comic Maker
Imagine, students using knowledge from a lesson to make a comic strip about people or objects having a conversation about something related or unrelated to the class content. After they create the comic, students can email it to you or take a screen shot of the comic and turn that image in.
Educreations
Students become 'experts' on a topic or concept, then use Educreation to create a video 'lesson' for you or the class to watch. Students can illustrate pictures and narrate a series of scenes that they create.
PowToon
Students can create fun and informative animations. A good blended of animated story and presentation. Students will love working with PowToon to create whatever you want them to.
